WAVES

Waves is a story told by a duo of a dancer Evgenia and musician Giovanni.

The main character falls asleep in front with the TV on, which causes a surreal world to unfold. According to the aesthetics of magic realism, a series of absurd events and funny transformations quickly change one another: a shipwreck, fishing, being shot while singing in a microphone, getting drunk in a rainy tram, sharing traumatic love stories, being brainwashed to channel a specific type of energy… All those remixed and rearranged symbolic pop ups form personal life, causing artistic expression as emotional digestion.

Why waves then? We are exploring the very abstract essence of the metaphor, allowing multimedia associations to become a drive force for storytelling. Waves bring us to water fantasies, to the light diffraction in certain colors and their affective force, to emotional ups and downs, destructive potential and power of ripples.

The oneiric world of the piece comes closer and further from the spectators, sometimes involving them in, sometimes inviting to distant observation.
