Open Call Walk on AiR-Festival 2027
Hey Berlin-Based-Artists! We are interested in what is moving you now and what is essential for you!
For the second edition of the Walk on AiR Festival, we are inviting independent artists to take the stage at Acker Stadt Palast Berlin under the theme “Essentials.” Over two weeks (January 21–23 & January 29–31, 2027), the Artists in Residence, their guests & friends, and curated contributions from this open call will present short performances in the performing arts (contemporary dance, performance, contemporary music theater, as well as cross-genre and interdisciplinary formats).
We are looking for groups who are eager to collaborate with us, explore potential, work within a given framework, try out new, contemporary formats, and take on and present the challenges of a small-scale format. What is essential? For you, your work, for our time?
Our 2027 motto: Put your essentials into a frame. 7 performance days, 4 pieces per evening, 15 minutes per presentation. Essentials, that’s it.
Part of the framework involves specifying static lighting positions that are used by all the artists at the festival.
The submitted ideas can be new mini-projects or part of your existing work or work currently in progress, which may also be featured in the Acker Stadt Palast’s annual program in the future.
What do you get?
Time to set up your presentation within a given lighting and spatial setting
Support from the Acker Stadt Palast team
A share of the evening’s proceeds
What do you need to submit?
- Title
- Genre (contemporary dance, performance, contemporary music theater, as well as cross-genre or interdisciplinary formats)
- Brief description of your project (max. 150 words)
- Trailer/video (including past work)
- Short bio and/or link to your website
When and where is the deadline?
Project proposals can be submitted until June 30, 2026, at kbb@ackerstadtpalast.de
We look forward to your submission and to shaping the 2nd edition of the Walk on AiR Festival together!

What is the Artists in Residence Program
The Artists in Residence Program launched at the beginning of 2025 and supports 16 international and collaborative artists in establishing a Berlin-based home venue for their work and pursuing sustainable artistic practice. Once a year, they come together to present excerpts from their annual projects. For the second edition in 2027, Artistic Director Anete Colacioppo invites Berlin-based artists to apply with short presentations and become part of the growing Acker Stadt Palast community.
