At the first Walk on AiR Festival, the artists-in-residence open their rehearsal stages, idea labs, and theatrical utopias. Experience performances, video installations, sketches, and glimpses of what will continue to grow at Acker Stadt Palast in 2026. For us, Walk on AiR represents an open space for questions and experiments that shape all artistic practice. Ultimately, it's about the art of creating art in difficult times.

This reading session brings together texts by women on sound art and music. Through shared reading and discussion, we want to revisit familiar questions and make room for new ones.

We will read the beginning of Chapter 5, “Music as a Vibrational Practice,” from Sensing Sound: Singing and Listening as Vibrational Practice by Nina Sun Eidsheim.

Nina Sun Eidsheim is a writer and scholar whose work focuses on sound, voice, listening, and the material and social dimensions of musical experience.

This is an investigation into the poetic landscape of the body and its rhythmic capacity to host myth and story. A window into our search for the language large enough to hold what moves our humanity. It is also a scavenger hunt – a commitment to stay close and trail the scent of any sounds that make us glad we’re alive.

A compact version of the work by the group PlaygroundBerliM, which has been performing at Acker Stadt Palast for three years, uniting dance, theater, live music, and clowning in a language based on improvisation and real-time composition. The concept emphasizes the presence and encounter between artists and audience, relying not on spoken language but on sound, movement, and mutual listening. Inspired by the principle of "tabula rasa"—starting from scratch without preconceived ideas—the group works from an open space of experimentation, where each performance emerges spontaneously, vibrantly, and uniquely.
