Electronica EP launch of ‘Short Wave Listening - poems & prophecies’
Shortwave listening - poems & prophecies is the new electronica EP from Producer, Composer, Percussionist & Curator RENU (Renu Hossain), inspired by the meeting with poet, writer & activist xamques from Namibia. Her story is: the biggest meteorite called the HOBA landed on earth, 80,000 years ago. From this meteorite, it is evident that those, such as xamques, who live in the same land it rests, have parts of the _space rock_ in their DNA.
The EP is an attempt to communicate with celestial spaces. To our past and our shared atoms and molecules.
The music - 303's, full synths, the famous OB-E synth feature in every track. A luscious music production and a small wink towards epochal Orchestral electronic composers.

Renu Hossain (RENU) is a London born, Bengali heritage, Berlin and London based interdisciplinary artist. She is a composer, producer, tabla-player, percussionist and curator. Originally a percussionist for – Grace Jones. Learning from percussion Masters in India, Brazil, Spain and Cuba, composing for choreography, theatre & film. RENU released "They Dance in the Dark" late 2017 to critical acclaim. Her album has been lionised by The Quietus, Art Forum Magazine, BBC Radio 6 & BBC 3 Late Junction.
For 20 years RENU has been studying percussion with Masters from India, Cuba, Spain & Brasil. RENU is a tabla disciple of Sri Chiranjit Mukherjee (senior disciple of Kumar Bose) following the classic way of learning "Guru shisha parampara" which translates to "Master student journey".
RENU is currently producing Filmy Electronica & Experimental impressions. 2024/2025 brings a plethora of new work.
‘Short Wave Listening - poems & prophecies’ featuring xamques is the first music release by Renu Hossain after a gap of a couple of years.
