Rituals and Intimacy
First Edition
Language: English and Spanish
The FM Festival is a vibrant meeting point celebrating the rich diversity and creativity of cross-border women artists in Europe. Founded by Lucía Ogdon, Michelle Felix, and Lucila Sol, we are young creators who have crossed oceans and recognize the effort to achieve gender equality in the arts. The contributions of numerous women who broke stereotypes have enriched the artistic circuit, and our performing arts festival, conceived by migrant women, aims to continue this momentum.
The name “FM” stands for “frequency modulation”, symbolizing our goal to communicate and amplify female voices like an FM radio signal. This concept reflects the intimate connection and dynamic transformation we seek to cultivate, tuning female artistic experiences to resonate strongly with diverse audiences.

The idea of establishing the festival arose from our need to join forces and open paths in the European art scene. We often found ourselves working with mutual admiration and respect, collaborating with ideas, materials, perspectives, writing, meetings, and exchanging opinions, knowledge, and experiences until today, where we decided to take a step further and make use of all that work to create a sustainable network to distribute tasks and access the spaces we always dreamed of. By reflecting on each other's work, we could recognize our struggles and vulnerabilities as strengths and creative potentials, allowing for legitimate and meaningful expressions in an environment where different cultural heritages converge, including key words like culture, roots, and identity.
We are motivated to create a dialogue with all our peers and mobilize the female and dissident artistic community, bringing from our Latin American cultures a peripheral artistic potential to the center of the European art scene.
