Murmurations / Lorenzo Naccarato

A pianist follows the same route as a bird migration

Lorenzo speaks to the audience in french and his speech is translated in german using cassette tape

Inspired by the many ways in which birds evolve and inhabit a space, Lorenzo Naccarato explores new ways to animate his own music. This search led him to develop his own sound device. He devises a new instrument and combines a small orchestra of cassette recorders and a modified record player with his piano. During his performances, the pianist interprets his compositions as a solo piano and moves in experimental situations.

Lorenzo Naccarato is a Franco-Italian pianist and composer, born in 1989. After an introduction to classical piano, he pursued a university course in musicology in Toulouse, where he led a research project on silence in the music of Thelonious Monk. In 2016, he released his first album Lorenzo Naccarato Trio, recorded at the Cinémathèque de Toulouse, on the French label Laborie Jazz. With his second album, Nova Rupta, released in 2018, he continues his quest for cinematic music and tours extensively in France and internationally. In 2020, he joins forces with the Vertumne show by Toulouse singer Manu Galure, for which he explores the sonorities of prepared piano. In 2021, he imagines a new project exploring the relationship between certain bird behaviors and musical composition.
