La Caída (The Fall) / LallavesaL
A contemporary dance duet inspired by the film Persona of Ingmar Bergman.
The piece explores the intimacy of the bond between two people, deepening into the duality and ambiguity of relationships.
Two bodies joined in a strange way, two people trapped in an incomprehensible relationship; how did they get there? What binds them? Why can’t they separate?
The depth of human relationships can be abyssal. Sometimes, the bond between two people is stronger than their reason or will, to the point where the individual gets lost in the duality. These are bonds woven by the unconscious and forged by what is hidden within the relationship itself; bonds that go beyond rational understanding because they are visceral and often remain in the realm of intuition.
The term “person” comes from Latin and meant “mask” in the context of theater. We all wear masks and relate to others through them, they identify us, but also conceal our deepest selves, often even from ourselves.
What happens when we fall into an intimate love-hate relationship? What attracts and repels us from the other? Is the other truly the cause of my conflicts? Who am I to the other?

LallavesaL is a contemporary scenic creation company founded in 2021 in Barcelona by the dancer and artist María Carbonell. In 2023, Júlia Vernet (dance writer and master in Philospphy) joins the team as producer and assistant director.
The main interests of the research and artistic creation of LallavesaL revolve around the artist as a channel, slowness and the expression of the subtle and unconscious. Starting from the existence of an encounter between the spiritual and the transcendent, in its creations, LallavesaL explores the perception of time through the presence of the performer as the driving force of the scenic event. Passing through the creative and artistic process of the body and movement, it is possible to make visible what seemed hidden and create bridges between the conscious and the unconscious.
