BERLIN SOLO IMPRO - Musikfestival

multiple artists

During the three days, 12 Berlin artists* will be performing in very different musical universes. In a city that is considered one of Europe's centres not only for experimental forms of music, Volker Meitz can draw on the full range of musical talent. The stylistic framework is deliberately wide: the invited musicians' instruments range from real time music, new music, free jazz and electronics, from cello and double bass flute to specially prepared vibraphone or modular synthesizer to the bare voice; everything is possible here between experimental noise and melodic harmonies, integrated by the parenthesis of solo improvisation as the festival's core concept.

The line-up promises to be exciting, not least because "old hands" of solo improvisation will be present, as well as musicians who will be presenting a complete solo performance for the first time (see line-up).
